Pinwheel Roundup Quilt Pattern
Pinwheel Roundup is my first pattern written specifically for Fat Quarters, and it was a fun challenge. I have a few special fat quarter bundles in my sewing room and I’m always hesitant to break into them. For one thing, I always feel like they should be used together because they coordinate so beautifully, and also, with beautiful prints, I hate to cut them up into small pieces.
This pattern answers both dilemmas perfectly, and it’s fun and easy to make as well! The throw size uses 10 fat quarters, so it beautifully shows off a whole collection of fabric, and the pieces are fairly large, so it showcases the prints nicely. Win, win!
I also included a yardage version at the last minute and I’m dying to make it. I love the way the design is totally different than the fat quarter version.
So far I’ve created this quilt using two totally different sets of fat quarters, the brilliant Echo collection of basics and the lovely Garden of Affection pastel floral prints, both by Benartex. The quilt has a totally different feel with the different fabrics, don’t you think?
